I have served as Presiding Judge of Harris County Probate Court No. 3 since 2019. Before taking the bench, I spent nearly 15 years practicing probate law in Harris County, representing individuals, families, and institutions in estate, trust, guardianship, and fiduciary matters.
Today, I bring that experience to one of Harris County’s most specialized courts—handling estates, trusts, guardianships, related litigation, and civil mental health proceedings.
Experience Matters
Probate Court No. 3 handles cases that can profoundly affect people’s families, property, health, autonomy, and liberty. These are not ordinary cases, and this is not an ordinary court.
I bring nearly 15 years of probate experience to the bench and now spent almost eight years presiding over probate, guardianship, and civil mental health proceedings.
My approach is straightforward: know the law, be prepared, listen carefully, make timely decisions, and treat every person with dignity and respect.
A Record of Results
102% Combined Clearance Rate
From March 2024 through June 2026, Probate Court No. 3 disposed of more cases than were added to its docket over the reporting period. Probate clearance exceeded 100% in each reported period.

$2.7 Million Federal Investment in Assisted Outpatient Treatment
I have helped lead the development of Harris County’s Assisted Outpatient Treatment program in collaboration with The Harris Center, UTHealth, and university partners. The innovative program was launched with a four-year, $2.7 million federal SAMHSA grant to connect judicial oversight with treatment, care coordination, and practical support for people living with serious mental illness.
84.2% Excellent or Very Good Overall
In the Houston Bar Association’s 2025 Judicial Evaluation, 84.2% of responding attorneys rated my work as Judge Excellent or Very Good overall—including 84.8% for impartiality and 85.6% for following the law.

Improving the Way Harris County Serves People
I believe courts should do more than process cases—they should continually look for ways to serve people better.
I am also leading a current initiative with UTHealth to renovate and modernize facilities used for Harris County civil mental health proceedings.
Throughout that work, one principle remains constant: efficiency must never come at the expense of fairness, due process, or individualized attention.

My commitment to probate, guardianship, and mental health law extends beyond the courtroom.
I serve on the Guardianship Subcommittee of the Texas Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities, am President of the Texas Probate Law American Inn of Court, and teache future lawyers as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Houston Law Center.
A longtime Houstonian and cancer survivor, I have also spent years volunteering at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where my work supporting patients and caregivers was recognized with the Joseph T. Painter Award.

For nearly eight years, I have worked to make Probate Court No. 3 more effective, accessible, and responsive to the people of Harris County.
I am asking voters for another term to continue that work—strengthening court administration, improving Harris County’s civil mental health system, protecting access to justice, and ensuring that every person who enters Probate Court No. 3 is treated fairly, impartially, and with dignity.
